Halcyon Levi
Cheyenne & Arapaho
Halcyon Levi is an enrolled member of the Southern Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, with Kiowa heritage. A direct descendant of Sand Creek Massacre survivors, she grew up in southwestern Oklahoma. She is reclaiming the University of Denver as one of the first descendants of the massacre to study there. This institution, founded in 1864 by John Evans, a key perpetrator of the massacre, is a significant part of her history. Halcyon is majoring in anthropology and environmental sciences.
In her free time, Halcyon practices ledger art, inspired by the natural beauty of her Oklahoma surroundings and her Cheyenne and Arapaho heritage. Her artwork features vibrant colors and diverse wildlife, reflecting her deep connection to her family's history and tribal roots in western and southwestern Oklahoma.
